Ariel Aberg-Riger is a young, very talented painter and illustrator who's work is not surprisingly getting a lot of attention. Her illustrations are fresh, interesting and with minimal use of detail pack a lot of punch. They have a very new-age, effortlessly chic "east villagey" type appeal.
Born in New York, Ariel Aberg-Riger grew up around LA, went to high school on Martha's Vineyard, studied Philosophy in Western Mass and Paris, and spent some time roaming around Barcelona before returning to New York. She now works as the Creative Development & Marketing Director for Fourth Story Media. Her illustrations are mainly done in pen and ink with geometric shapes of bright, eye-catching color, often having quirky sayings that make keen and comical social observations.
Her trademark stylized faces and busts of people seem comically familiar, and their often jaded expressions put the viewer at ease. She now lives in Brooklyn and is quickly acquiring a large following of admirers.
